Shari'ah

Ethical Banking Rooted in Shari’ah Principles

Principles of Islamic Finance

At Global Africa Bank, Shari’ah compliance is the cornerstone of our operations. We adhere to Islamic finance principles, prohibiting interest (Riba), excessive uncertainty (Gharar), and speculative activities (Maysir).

Instead, we promote profit-and-loss sharing, asset-backed financing, and risk-sharing through contracts like Murabaha (cost-plus financing), Mudarabah (profit-sharing), Musharakah (partnership), Ijara (leasing), and Istisna’a (manufacturing financing). These principles ensure the development of ethical, transparent, and inclusive financial solutions that benefit both investors and communities.

Shari’ah Supervisory Board

Our independent Shari’ah Supervisory Board, composed of distinguished Islamic scholars, ensures all products and operations comply with Islamic principles. The Board issues fatwas and certifications, providing confidence to clients and investors.

Shari’ah Governance Framework

Our Shari’ah Governance Framework is a comprehensive, institution-wide system that embeds core Islamic principles (such as prohibition of riba (interest), avoidance of gharar (excessive uncertainty), and rejection of maysir (speculation)) into every layer of our operations.

This begins at product design, where all financial instruments (e.g., Murabaha, Mudarabah, Musharakah, Ijara) are structured as asset-backed, profit-and-loss sharing models approved by our independent Shari’ah Supervisory Board (SSB).

The SSB is a panel of internationally recognized Islamic scholars and jurists. The SSB issues binding fatwas, reviews contracts, and certifies compliance before any product launch. An Internal Shari’ah Compliance Unit conducts daily monitoring and quarterly audits, while external Shari’ah audits provide independent verification. From investment screening (ensuring funds support halal industries like agriculture, infrastructure, and technology) to risk management and profit distribution, every decision is aligned with Maqasid al-Shariah (the higher objectives of Islamic law). This promotes justice, transparency, social welfare, and sustainable growth.

This rigorous, multi-tiered governance ensures absolute trust, ethical integrity, and uncompromising adherence to Islamic finance principles at Global Africa Bank.

Transparency

Transparency is a cornerstone of our Shari’ah-compliant operations. We conduct regular internal and external Shari’ah audits at least quarterly, performed by independent, qualified auditors and our Internal Shari’ah Compliance Unit.

These audits thoroughly review all transactions, contracts, product structures, and investment activities to verify full adherence to Islamic finance principles and approved fatwas. Key audit outcomes, including compliance findings, corrective actions, and certification status, are documented in Shari’ah Audit Reports.

These reports are made available to the Shari’ah Supervisory Board, Board of Directors, and, upon request, to regulators and qualified investors, fostering accountability at every level.

This disciplined, open process not only ensures strict compliance but also reinforces stakeholder confidence, upholds ethical standards, and strengthens our commitment to trust-based, transparent Islamic banking.
